Upward Basketball ...
Sign ups are underway. We had a great
response at the cookout. Check the link for
the first weeks winning numbers from the
drawing. If you didn't make the first week
come see us at the URBANA Walmart from
10-1 and get your chance to win some
exciting door prizes as well as sign your child
up for an exciting season of Upward Sports.
***PARENTS***
REGISTRATIONS are not complete nor
valid without parent information and
signatures. Please remember to fill in the
right side of the brochure. Also..DO NOT
FILL IN SIZES...we do that at evals.
Your child will try on an actual uniform to get
the perfect fit, so please leave the sizing to
us as stated on the form. Shorts and
mock-ts are optional and additional. They
are not included in the $55, and are $15
extra if you desire them.

Practices...
Here are a few things to remember about
practice. The facilities we use are donated
to us, so we must respect the rules set by
them at all times.
We are not to be going through the school
at any time except to get a drink and or to
use the rest room. PARENTS: IF YOU DROP
OF YOUR PLAYERS PLEASE DO NOT
LEAVE ANY OTHER CHILDREN AT
PRACTICE SIGHTS UNATTENDED BY
YOURSELF.
Our coaches are all volunteer and they
cannot take on additional responsibilities of
other non-player children at practices
without parents.
The schools are Urbana School District
property and all USD rules are in affect. We
have to be prompt in entering and exiting
the building. We cannot stay after and shoot
baskets, or just play as the custodial
workers wait until we leave to do gym areas.
PARENTS: If you haven't read the insert that
comes in your players player box, please do
so. This league isn't about, "kickin' butt",
"winning at all costs", it is about developing
a positive environment for your child to learn
basketball and grow their self esteem.
Coaches have been trained extensively this
year to the importance of this message.
Please encourage a positive environment
for your child to play and enjoy Upward
Basketball. Review the circle of affirmation,
if you will and see what we are about.
Thank you for your cooperation in making
Upward Basketball a positive playing
environment for all children.

funding by grants and the donations of others.
For each player Urbana Lighthouse Upward
programs kicks in a minimum of $2 per player.
You can be a part of making this possible with

expenses, and making Upward available to

depth coaches book. Inside the book is all you
need for each practice you hold. From drills, to
exercises, to scrimmages, you will find your
coaches book is your best friend. Each coaches
book comes with a CD ROM disc as well to

Upward Sports Basketball is......

has equal opportunity to play, equal opportunity to
start, and a great place to play the great game of
basketball without pressure.
Each player receives not a T-shirt, but an NBA style,
mesh full reversible jersey. As Upward Sports follows
the trends of the NBA, so then do our players. BUT,
that's not all!
Each Player receives their uniform in their own
personalized player pack. Included in the player pack
is their uniform jersey ,shorts (if ordered), a T-shirt,
activity items for practice, and other fun things for the
player to use during the season. Each player is
rewarded after each practice and game, and these
reward Stars are then transferred onto the T-shirt.
We encourage the wearing of the T-shirt under the
jerseys to sport their achievements. This league is all
about your player's success.

the week of January 2, 2012. This year we plan
to break the divisions down better so tell your
friends. Divisions will be as follows, 1st-2nd
grade, 3rd-4th grade, 5th-6th grade. We believe
this will add excitement and build confidence in
our participants.
Registration fees are now $65 as we have
reached late registration dates for participants
whether basketball or cheer. Shorts for
basketball or mock turtle necks for cheerleaders
are optional for $15 additional. Below is an
example of just some of the items players receive
when registering for Urbana Upward Sports.
